New York Exhibits and Happenings

So updating this blog on New York is taking a little longer than I expected, but here were some other highlights

The Guggenheim of course was beautiful, except it was our coldest day and trying to get there in 5 degree wind and rain wasn't that fun

One Monday we took the train to Queens to have a look at PS.1, one of the cooler galleries on New York,

Then there was the Bansky installation, set up in an old pet store, where he created a new pet store with animatronics and installations. Given that I can't figure out how to upload my video's here (any suggestions anyone?) I'll post some links that other people have done
and here

Michel Gondry did a free talk at Strand Books
and the bookstore alone was a highlight where I managed to buy 8 new and second hand books that I had to lug home
I'm going to post some highlights of his that I like...
Michael Andrews 'Mad World' clip whose song I first heard in Donnie Darko - here
The White Stripes 'Hardest Button to Button' here
An old favourite, Daft Punk's 'Around the World' here
and Bjork's Declare Independance that I hadn't seen before here
And because I'm feeling kind of daggy today one more here

How happy was I that the Zaha Hadid designed Chanel Mobile Art exhibit was on in Central Park during my stay. It was a strange experience where you had to sit down and be rigged up with earphones and then directed through the exhibit by a croaky old voice to see and help create exhibits by artists from all over the world
(these next photo's were taken by Jai Odell)

MOMA....well once you got through the long lines, it was so rammed with people that I couldn't see anything of the Van Gogh and Miro exhibits, and to be honest i had more fun in the gift store...
