Quick Bites in New York

There are what seems like a trillion cool little places to grab a bite to eat in New York, and deciding where to go is seriously overwhelming. With my well researched friends however we made some educated choices with these...

Porchetta is a teeny little tiled place that serves an equally teeny menu of 4 dishes plus sides. Owner Dave has the organic wild fennel pollen Fed-Exed from Italy from a family friend on a monthly basis that he uses with his free range pork - some of the best I have ever had. The Pork Plate comes with large juicy slices of pork served with the crackling, white beans with lemon zest and sauteed greens with garlic. You must get a side of 'Crispy Potatoes with Burnt Ends' which are organic potatoes roasted in pork dripping and extra virgin olive oil. This place was seriously fabulous.

Cafe Habana was a quick stop in for their tasty corn, served on the cob, smothered in melted butter, a soft gooey cheese that tasted like parmesan, lime and chilli.

Wholefoods is the best supermarket I have ever been to in my life. Not only can you buy the best produce in every category under the sun there, they have a huge food bar, where you serve your own portions into takeaway containers for home, or onto plates to eat upstairs. The chocolate bread and butter pudding with hot chocolate sauce I would highly recommend!

Relish is a seriously cool diner in Willamsburg Brooklyn. We rode our bikes over the Williamsburg Bridge which is basically an endurance test of torture as it's a few kms all uphill, but it was worth it to go for lunch at Relish. Giant, tasty burgers and a plateful of fries washed down with  few pints of beer seemed like a good idea until we had to ride back over the bridge...
